What is projected to be built?
Two adult group homes -- one home for women and one for men -- are to be built on land generously donated by The Presbyterian
Communities of South Carolina in Easley. Each home, approximately 2,400
square feet, will match the architecture of the guest houses on the Easley
campus. The interior design of each home will meet all state and federal
requirements.
Why are we building these homes?
We are building these homes because there is a crying need for such care for
adults with special needs. Waiting lists for state-managed homes are
years long. But more than meeting an urgent need, these homes will
provide a loving environment for adults with special needs.
InDwellings, a faith-based initiative of Foothills Presbytery and the
Presbyterian Church (USA), will work diligently to ensure that our residents
experience God's grace and love as they achieve their human potential in
the context of a caring home.
What is the financial goal for this campaign?
$950,000 is an initial goal, because state funding for such
homes is very limited.
What will these funds purchase?
Funds are needed to build the homes, purchase vans for
transportation of the residents, hire certified staff for the supervision
of the residents, and to provide care and programs for InDwellings'
residents. InDwellings would like to raise enough so funds
from the principal would sustain the homes in perpetuity, as well as build new
homes.
Who will help us achieve the goal?
InDwellings is seeking support from a variety of sources. We are
especially seeking the financial support of churches, individuals,
corporations, civic organizations and foundations within the bounds of
Foothills Presbytery, and with ties to the Presbyterian Church (USA). Please go to the "To Donate or Inquire" page on this site to make your donation by credit card, to
download pledge forms for individuals and churches, or to see our list of Commemorative Naming Opportunities.
Whom can I contact for more information?
For more information, please contact Board President, The Reverend Nancy Blakely, at nanblakely@gmail.com, or any InDwellings board member listed on the "To Donate or Inquire" page of
this website.
